In this blog, I’ll be sharing on how I know when we both feel settled down in the comfort of our own home.
It was when we officially shifted end Jan 2021 and after a final purchase of furniture, stocked up on our groceries and toiletries, got the momentum of our new cashflow change in our savings and expenses, we are assured that we are settled. We didn’t have much guests (mostly close family and relatives who came to visit us in the first few months before Ramadhan.) due to the fact that it is the COVID-19 period and the government restrictions that we had to adhere with.
Both me and Mr Far, agreed upon to have at least 3-4 months worth of groceries (those with long expiry dates)/toiletries and other basic neccessities. Rational behind this is to prepare us in the event, especially in this COVID period, we were required to self-isolate/quarantine.
We also have a joint-bank account specifically for our home maintenance (utilities, conservancy charges, repairs and more) for us to set aside a certain percentage of our salary.
Ultimately, it is important to sit down with your spouse to discuss about your financial and life goals, so as both parties are on the same page. It is also good to get your financial advisor to assist on the areas where you need to help sort out your finances.
Have a great weekend everyone! Stay safe, healthy and happy!

Hi there! This article could not be written much better! Going through this article reminds me of my previous roommate! He constantly kept preaching about this. I will send this post to him. Fairly certain he’s going to have a good read. Many thanks for sharing!
