Bismillah.
Today marks the end of the 2nd work week of 2022. How is everyone doing so far? As for myself, it has been quite hectic. The good kind of hectic. Alhamdulillah! I managed to pass my Commercial General Insurance (COMGI) exam on my 2nd take and also managed to complete my orientation training by my company. Juggle between work and studies is what I have last done so back in undergrad days. But this time to add on, I am a wife studying and juggling work. Not an easy feat but alhamdulillah we did it! It’s a matter of time management, communication and understanding.
Writing about being prepared, it takes a lot of time, effort and discipline to ensure that we are prepared.
There’s a lot of things that we can prepare for and discuss with your family/relatives/spouse. Here’s the list of things that I speak and ask openly to my family and spouse.
- What to do in the event someone in your family passed away? What are the procedures/steps that you need to work on. What are the debts outstanding? Who is the person in charge of settling final expenses and ensure that wealth being distributed according to syariah?
- What to do in the event there’s pregnancy complications and doctor can only save 1 soul?
- What if either family member or spouse pass away in overseas, to bury in Singapore or wherever they are at the point of death?
There are a lot more tough questions that it’s good to ask especially life and death and money matters. Once that’s settle you will somehow feel settled.
In the area of work and studies, we can be prepared especially for exams and projects or setting appointments.
Studies:
- Do past papers to get the gist of what questions to expect. If it’s an e-textbook, CTRL+F and search for keywords of the question for the answer.
- Speed read the first round of revision. Absorb as much as possible.
- 2nd round of revision read it word for word and internalise and scribble notes so that you remember the key important points.
- Speed read the 3rd round of revision. Absorb as much as possible.
- Read the past papers with the answers.
- Speed read the last round of revision and then you’re good to go for the exam.
- Remember to recite Bismillah when starting and end with Alhamdulillah.
- When you forget, read Prophet Yunus’s supplication.
- I make it a habit to read Al-Fatihah, 3 Kul and ayatul Kursi before starting anything, even when leaving the house or coming back home.
Work:
- Start the day before or the day itself with listing out the things that you wish to do for the day. To the hardest task in the morning and the easiest closer to end of day.
- Limit distractions especially when you are working at home.
- Tick off those tasks that you have completed.
- Take breaks in between to the toilet or to topup your water bottle or cup of water.
There’s a lot of things we can plan, but Allah is the best of planners. May the following week be better than this week. Have a great weekend everyone! Cheers!

I love it when people get together and share thoughts. Great blog, continue the good work!
