Bismillah.

The first thing I dived right into for research when I joined back the Finance industry was to read up on Cryptocurrency, just so I don’t miss out. Yes there are a myriad of things to catchup especially Fintech is the buzz word ever since I left the finance industry back in 2015. Just a disclaimer that I am not promoting/encouraging you to embark on Cryptocurrency. A word of caution that if you ever wish to embark, by all means, it is based on your own accord.

So what exactly is Cryptocurrency? Based on Investopedia:
“A cryptocurrency is a digital or virtual currency that is secured by cryptography, which makes it nearly impossible to counterfeit or double-spend. Many cryptocurrencies are decentralized networks based on blockchain technology—a distributed ledger enforced by a disparate network of computers. A defining feature of cryptocurrencies is that they are generally not issued by any central authority, rendering them theoretically immune to government interference or manipulation.”

In layman’s term, it is simply another form of currency that is somewhat standardised, to be use anywhere in the world, as long as it supports digital tokens. Sounds complicated right? But yes, that’s where everyone in the world is heading towards.

I’ll share in my next blog post on what I explored to understand better about Cryptocurrency. Stay tuned! Have a great weekend! Cheers!
