Travel For A Different Perspective of The World

Bismillah…

It has been almost 2 years since my last leisure and work travels overseas. Each and every travel allows me to explore the world and understand how’s life in another country. I always have a habit of thinking from a local perspective for example for a set of meals in the fast-food chain in Country A may cost $14, compared to back in Singapore it may cost $7. It makes me realise and be grateful how fortunate I am to be able to earn and spend $x to purchase items/services at a cheaper rate compared to in another country where individuals will have to earn more to purchase a specific item/service.

Travel with family or travel with friends or travel for work has different sets of lessons in terms of time management, money management and also travel arrangements.

Here are some tips that I can share with you:

  1. Have a list of activities that you wish to do, include the cost of the activity and also duration of the activity.
  2. Plan out your schedule and allocate the activities along with the cost and the duration. Total up your per day spending so that you are well aware of how much you will be spending.
  3. Don’t forget to allocate money for your meals, transport and shopping in each day of your trip schedule. Example: When I went to Dubai with my university girl friends, we allocate AED 100 (SGD$37) per day for our meals (just for lunch as we cook our breakfast and sometimes dinner in our apartment.). I also list down my daily expenses just to make sure that I do not go over my budget (Take note of how much you spend with your Cash, Debit Card/Credit Card).
  4. Last but not least, do get yourself travel insurance coverage in case of accident/loss of important documents/items. (Side note: It does not cover dangerous activities such as skydiving (which I did with my university girl friends in Dubai. Go at own risk. 🙂 )).

You’re all set and ready to travel. In this current context, do remember to also check travel advisories in the country that you will be travelling to and ensure that the requirements are met. Stay safe, stay healthy and safe travels to those travelling soon!
